Microbiology
Elite Labs has a dedicated microbiology department to detect microbes and for the study of infectious diseases like bacteria, fungi and viruses. We analyse the blood samples which show signs of infections during CBC testing and in case of positive infection, detecting the infective pathogen through culturing method and molecular testing.
Different manual (microscopic and plating) and automated techniques using fluorescent sensor technology allows for fully automated, walk-away testing using a continuous monitoring instrument which functions in agitating and incubating the blood culture bottles, resulting in faster detection of positive patterns. This is used to identify the organisms present in blood and body fluid. The antibiotic sensitivity test allows analysing the susceptibility of that particular organism to antibiotics which ensures for future appropriate treatment.
Mycology culturing is offered for both routine body specimens and for identification of Dermatophytic infections from skin, hair and nails. We proceed with bacterial culturing from samples that include: urine, pus/wound, blood, body fluid (CSF, ascitic fluid, pleural fluid, synovial fluid, gastric juice, bronchial wash), vaginal swab, throat swab, sputum, stool, semen, water culture, etc.
