Routine and Specialized Chemistry

Clinical biochemistry deals with the measurement of analytes, which aims to diagnose and monitor various diseases. This department includes a large number of diagnostic tests that help understand pathogenesis and etiology of different diseases. It is essential for early diagnosis of a disease and also assessment of its therapy efficacy.

This specialty division of biochemistry deals with the quantitative analysis of proteins in blood and urine samples. This technique has numerous applications including newborn screening for various treatable disorders, quantification of drugs and vitamins.

Clinical biochemistry department offers from routine to highly specialised investigations. Routine chemistry is performed on a fully automated chemistry analyzer having a throughput of 500 tests/hour. Apart from routine tests and profiles, we offer a unique mix of specialised tests like C3/C4, other cancer marker tests apart from CA15.3, hsCRP, etc.,.

Prenatal testing (double marker, triple marker, quadruple marker) for Down syndrome, Trisomy 18 risk assessment and other genetic disorders are routinely offered to pregnant women during their pregnancy stages. The samples are processed in Cobas-e411 analyser which is random-access and multi-channelled and the test reports are provided with clear interpretation along with graphical inference.

Screening tests for drugs of abuse are also offered in the department. 25-OH Vitamin D Total assay is performed by a dedicated fully automated chemiluminescence analyzer approved by the FDA and trusted by most laboratories in the world.
